I work on how governments and mission critical enterprises get from AI pilots into governed production. That question is not academic for me: I led transformation inside a $1.4 billion-a-year city organization, co-founded a GovTech company, and now work inside an infrastructure operator whose systems run every day, all day.
In city hall, a wrong AI output is an embarrassment. In transit, water, power and aviation, it is an incident. I write about the difference, and about what actually has to be true for an institution to move past a pilot.
